Chapter 18
Over a month had passed since Young Hollywood first came home. It was February 2003, and Young Hollywood and Kangoma had been in North West Province, South Africa, for two weeks. They were staying in an exclusive luxurious hotel, one of the best in the world, for that matter.
The Palace at Sun City is secluded in the Pilanesberg Mountains. The air has a mysterious scent, nothing you’d smell in Atlanta or the United States for that matter.
An atmosphere definitely fit for a King, and that’s exactly what Young Hollywood thought himself to be. He had his own suite, and inside the suite, the walls were covered in maple paneling with plush carpet running wall-to-wall. There were two bedrooms with overstuffed king sized beds.
This was a new learning experience for Young Hollywood, having never left America before now. He’d only left Atlanta once outside of his prison bid, and that’s when he went to Vegas. Today, he was out on the balcony with a beautiful view of the jungle. Kangoma was sitting across from him, and they were eating rice and delicious roasted goat meat. Kangoma drank boiled milk, while Young Hollywood sipped on a Coca Cola with crushed ice.
Young Hollywood stared at Kangoma. “Brah, I wouldn’t have thought in a million years that I’d be in Africa.” He ate a fork full of rice then added, “and then we here in this palace, I damn sho’ didn’t think y’all had no shit like this over here.”
“This is a rich country, Hollywood.”
“Not what they show on TV, all the starving kids and shit. They don’t never show no shit like this.”
Kangoma sat silently for a minute, and then he stood and looked out over the balcony. He closed his eyes and took a long deep breath, and then whispered, “Never take life for granted, there’s only two choices. You either win or you lose. If you’re a thinker, it automatically puts you up on your adversaries.”
Young Hollywood sipped his Coke. “And when it’s duck season, the guns must go… BOOM!” He used his hands as if he was shooting a gun. There was another short silence between the two of them. Then Young Hollywood asked, “So what time ya people suppose to get here?”
“Maybe night fall or early in the morning. Until then, we’ll relax. We’ll go down to the Lost City golf course.”
